The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY), is a non-profit organization which promotes Indian classical music, Indian classical dance, and other aspects Indian culture. It is a movement with chapters in over 300 towns and cities all over the world. It seeks to foster the exchange of traditional Indian values and to generate awareness of the cultural traditions and heritage of India. In order to achieve its goals, SPICMACAY organizes concerts, lectures, demonstrations, informal discussions, and seminars. These are hosted by local chapters of the organization. Thus its work is educational in spirit and character and locates itself in educational institutions .
Some great exponents of Indian classical music have visited the college which includes Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra (Hindustani Vocal), Smt. Sunanda Sharma (Hindustani Vocal), Smt. Shanti Sharma (Hindustani Vocal), Pdt. Rajendra Prasanna (Flute), Ustad Aashish Khann(Sarod), Ustad Asad Ali Khan(Hindustani Vocal), Su. Meeta Pandit (Hindustani Vocal), Smt.Ashwini Bhede Deshpande (Hindustani Vocal), Su. Kapila Venu (Kuttiyattam) and Nizami brothers (Qawali).
The ANDC chapter of SPICMACAY organized a classical music concert of Ustad Fahimuddin Dagar who is a world renowned exponent of Dhrupad. Dhrupad, a vocal genre in Hindustani classical music, is said to be its oldest and pristine form. Ustadji is one of the living legends who still practices this rare and complex form of classical music. The college was fortunate to host Ustadji's concert under the aegis of SPICMACAY on 16 September 2009. This concert was part of the ongoing Virasat series of SPICMACAY, which this year, has been dedicated in the memory of maestros Ali Akbar Khan, D. K. Pattammal, Gangubhai Hangal, Vishnu Prabhakar, Habib Tanvir, Palghat R. Raghu and Tyeb Mehta.
Other activities conducted under the aegis of SPIC MACAY
