From the very beginning of the course, significant importance has been placed on undergraduate research, aiming to provide practical training, foster creative and analytical thinking, and offer an informed perspective on pursuing a career in research. To facilitate this, students engage in short- term research projects under the guidance of scientists from renowned research institutes and universities. Additionally, faculty members of the Department provide mentorship throughout the research process.
Participating in research projects not only enables students to learn modern techniques and gain insights into fundamental and contemporary scientific problems, but it also has a transformative impact on their personal skills. Students have actively contributed to projects funded by esteemed organizations such as DBT, CSIR-Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD), DST- Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC), DBT Star College Scheme, DU Innovation Project, and the ELITE fellowship scheme of the college. Notably, our students have also secured highly competitive fellowships such as KVPY, JNCASR, IAS, among others.
Opportunities abound for students to participate in national and international workshops, seminars, conferences, where they can present their research findings. Moreover, the Department has received research funding from prominent sources like OSDD, TATA CSIR-OSDD, DST- SERB, and ICMR to support advanced research endeavors.
We take immense pride in the achievements of our senior most faculty members, including Prof. Urmi Bajpai, Dr. Sunita Jetly, Prof. Gagan Dhawan., Dr. Archna Pandey and Dr. Rajesh Chaudhary. Their exceptional research profiles highlight the department's commitment to impactful and groundbreaking science.
