The Department has a Zoological Society, NICHE, which organizes various intra/inter-college academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities regularly to promote students’ skills and boost their confidence. NICHE is run by the joint efforts of the faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the Department. Every year, students choose their representatives who organize and coordinate the events with the help of the staff. NICHE celebrates its Annual Departmental Fest in which various events are organized for the students of the college.
The Departmental Society fosters students by organizing interactions with renowned scientists through lectures, workshops and seminars. The interactive talks expose the students to the intellectual breadth and skills necessary for rigorous research with an interdisciplinary approach.
NICHE emphasizes on the overall personality development of the students by organizing diverse events like Green Day, Skit Competition, Collage making competition, etc. The inter-college competitions receive enthusiastic participation from the students across the University. The students make efforts to get good sponsorships to attract participation and give away handsome prizes.
In the academic year 2019-2020, NICHE celebrated 25 years of the establishment of the Department of Zoology in the college. The Society organized a series of talks by its alumni who not only briefed the students about their area of work but also inspired them with their achievements. The Annual Departmental Fest, SYMBIOX-2020, was also dedicated to the Department’s achievements during the last 25 years and included several events to nurture students’ talents. The Society has brought out a magazine, Camouflage, with articles contributed by the staff, students and alumni.
